I
have always been Father,
and will always be Father.
Ephesians
3:14-15
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father,
15 from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives
its name.
(NIV Bible)
God
is not only the author of all creation, but is Father
over His family in heaven and on earth. While the name
'Creator' describes what He does, the name Father describes
who He is. And He just doesn't want to be known as an
impersonal Father over all creation but wants to be known
as our own personal Daddy.
In
Romans 8:15, we read that we have received the spirit
of sonship whereby we cry "Abba, Father". The
word "Abba" was a common Hebrew term for father
used by little Jewish babies. Equivalent words that we
would use today would be "Dada" or "Papa".
A
friend of mine was recently in Israel and recalled a story
of a little Jewish baby in a restaurant who could not
be comforted by her mother. She was crying out for her
father shouting Abba! Abba! Abba! It wasn't until her
father came across the room and picked her up that she
was comforted.
I
believe that this is how God the Father wants us to relate
to Him
To simply be little boys and little girls
who need to be held and cared for. I pray that an Abba
cry will ring from deep within our hearts as the revelation
of His Fatherhood and Fatherheart for each one of us becomes
more and more real.
PRAYER
Father, I thank You that You are my Daddy and You are
my God. You have not given me a spirit that makes me a
slave to fear, but You have given me a Spirit of adoption
where I cry "Abba Father". So I cry out Abba,
Father! I pray that Your Holy Spirit would continue to
witness with my spirit that I am Your little child. In
the name of Your beloved Son Jesus I pray, AMEN.
